About Me: I live in Wilson,NC, with my husband, Norval, a former chemistry professor, who is a college president [Barton College], a sister college to TCU. We have been here for almost 8 years and plan to be here for probably another 4--maybe longer if the market does not change! We have 3 children and 4 grandchildren. Our 2 sons live in Ft. Worth; Craig is a physician and Chapman is a computer science engineer; our daughter, Emily, an artist and donkey trainer, lives in Alpine, TX, with one of our granddaughters. We frequently visit in FW with our family, and try to spend as much time as possible at our home in Alpine, where we have begun training a mustang horse from Wyoming. After PHS, I graduated from TCU, with a BS in geology and worked in the oil fields/business for about 20 years. After working for ARCO for about 6 years in Lafayette,LA, and Dallas, I consulted, then developed an exploration/production company, which I sold in 1998. Not a bad career with lots of fun. Today my time is spent as a 'presidential spouse'--a real title--- and participate in all of the college's activities, maintaining a 1923 neo-Georgian presidential home while managing the grounds and inside-a museum/event center- with 2 staff persons. Entertaining is a big part of this position, with approximately 100 events at the house every 9 months and the daily activities at the college. Barton won the NCAA Div II Basketball Championship in 2007, during an incredible season. The winning game was nominated for an ESPY award. In the last 45 seconds of the game, one of our players scored 10 points. You can see the winning game at www.barton.edu and click on athletics. It is a short clip. A busy life, with lots of excitement because of the students and travel. Most recent trip was to Egypt. I love travelling and my next trip is with our 11 yr old granddaughter from Alpine this summer to visit the WWII battle fields in Europe.
